Post-Production Update #9 | Prototype Pictures! + General Update
6 months ago – Mon, Nov 13, 2023 at 06:26:31 AM

Hello! Cutting to the chase:

  • Manufacturing is still underway.
  • We are still very much on track for March 2024 regarding fulfillment.

Pictures from the Manufacturer!

FKO base game, box with components. Note: There WILL be a plastic insert in the final version.
FKO Oddities Expansion box and components
Decks for base game
Punchboard for the Oddities Expansion fighters

These pictures aren't the highest quality, but it's really cool to see the prototype fully formed! I will be receiving and personally evaluating the prototype within the next couple of weeks before I give them the go-ahead on a full print run.

Distribution

Whilst manufacturing has taken a bit longer than anticipated, I have been hard at work making sure that distribution and fulfillment go as smoothly as possible to make up for lost time. The distribution company has all the preliminary data so they can make their plans for fulfillment, and will be sent the final data as soon as they have the games. The games will go straight from the manufacturer in China to the China hub for the distributor which should also make up for some lost time.

Any Questions?

If anyone has any questions about the games, fulfillment, or more, please comment down below so I can get you those answers as soon as possible. The end is very much in sight and I am super excited to get these games to you!

Thanks,

Niall from Crab Studios :)

Post-Production Update #8 | Manufacturing has Begun + Update on Fulfillment
8 months ago – Fri, Sep 01, 2023 at 04:28:34 AM

Hello all, quick update, let's get to it.

Manufacturing has Begun!

All the files for the game have been sent over to the manufacturer and manufacturing has started. We have been told that manufacturing will be complete between 35-45 days after delivery of files, so that puts us at being completed around October 15th at the latest. There could be some slight delays on this front, but it should only be by a couple of days here and there.

Fulfillment Update!

We are almost complete with setting everything up so that everything is ready when the games have been made and sent to the fulfillment company. The hope is that as soon as the games have arrived at the fulfillment company, they start making their way out to you peeps, though again there could be a slight delay due to external factors. The hope is to deliver all the games before Christmas, but of course, I will keep you updated on this as we get into late October/early November. This would put us massively ahead of schedule, as the original plan was to deliver the games to backers in March, but everything so far has gone incredibly smoothly (knock on wood), so here's hoping it continues to do so.

If you have any questions please comment down below, and once again, thanks for being amazing and supporting this project :)

Thanks,

Niall from Crab Studios

Post-Production Update #7 | Manufacturer Chosen and Starting Soon
10 months ago – Tue, Jul 18, 2023 at 11:42:50 PM

Manufacturer Chosen!

Hello all, after the last update, I promised that we would have chosen a manufacturer by the time this week rolls around, and we have! The manufacturer in question is Hero Time. This is because I was blown away by their level of communication and hands-on attention to the project even before we got the quote from them. This game needs care and attention, and they will provide that in spades.

So with that being said, the game is still ahead of schedule on a March 2024 fulfillment, and hopefully, the process should start going even faster!

Thanks,

Niall from Crab Studios

Post-Production Update #6 | Manufacturing will Start Soon! | Balancing Changes + How that Affects the PnP
10 months ago – Sun, Jul 09, 2023 at 01:28:18 AM

Manufacturing

Hello all, very quick update here. So, we now have three quotes back from different manufacturers that are within the budget and quality expectations for the game. We are waiting on just two more to get back to us, one of which we especially hope to work with as the quality of their products is known in the industry.

As soon as we have chosen a manufacturer and started the process of printing the games, an update will be posted immediately. The goal is to have this started within July.

Balancing

If you didn't know, FKO is being constantly played every week in the Crab Studios Discord Server, in fact, we currently have an FKO League which is ongoing at the moment. Because of this, we are getting a constant stream of data coming in which helps us improve the balancing of FKO. This feedback loop between the community and us will continue until we send off the files to the manufacturer, at which point we will lock down all the fighters and their decks so they are 1:1 when comparing the Tabletop Simulator version to the IRL version.

How does Balancing Affect the PnP?

When we send off the game to print, we will update the Google Drive with the files in, with up-to-date versions. Not every fighter has or will receive balancing changes, so we will upload the deck files separately, just so you don't have to print off everything again.

That's everything for now, thanks once again for supporting FKO and Crab Studios!

Thanks,

Niall from Crab Studios
